Driver who killed couple in wrong-way crash sentenced to prison
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- New surveillance video shows the moment a car crashed into the KK River in Milwaukee.
That crash left three people dead including a pregnant woman and her 2-year-old daughter.
Police were chasing 19-year-old Shannan Nehmer and 29-year-old Charles Barefield after a series of armed robberies on New Year's Eve.
The vehicle they were in lost control and crashed into the river. Surveillance video shows the car careening around the corner, failing to negotiate a turn, hitting the fence, and then disappearing into the KK River.
The pursuing officers are seen arriving just seconds later.
They called for backup and the dive team tried to rescue all three who were inside the car.
Divers pulled out Nehmer but difficult conditions forced them to call off the search for the others.
Nehmer's 2-year-old daughter Annamelia Hernandez and Barefield were pulled out of the water the next day.
One person is charged for his involvement in the robberies. Andre Dyson, 20, will be back in court later this month for a doctor's report return.
