Student in custody after Hartford High School bomb threat

At approximately 11:45 AM, on Wednesday, May 10, Hartford Union High School Staff notified police that they discovered a note indicating there was a bomb in the building.

The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Department's bomb squad performed a formal inspection of the facility. No explosive devices were found and an "all clear" was issued at 3:00 PM.

A joint investigation by the Hartford Police Department and the Hartford Union High School Staff lead to the identification and arrest of a Hartford Union High School student Thursday morning. Charges of Making a Bomb Threat and Obstructing an Officer have been referred to the Washington County District Attorney's office for review and prosecution against the 17-year-old student.

It was also determined that the threats made in this incident were completely baseless, and that at no time was there an actual explosive device either on Hartford Union High School grounds or in the possession of the suspect.
