After going an entire week without seeing any rainfall, our next stormy system has built in from our west and will bring heavy rain later today.
This system is pushing in a bit of a breeze out of the south and southwest, which is pumping in not only the heat, but also the humidity. With highs today likely to reach the low 90s and dew points into the 70s, feels like temps will likely get into the triple digits for many of our communities before the rain comes this afternoon. It is these warm and sticky conditions, though, that help fuel the stronger storms.
The Storm Predication Center has places most of SE WI in a Level 2/5 risk for severe weather. This indicates stronger storms are likely, and the main impacts are gusty winds and heavy downpours leading to areas of localized flooding. Because of this, many communities west of the Lake are under a Flood Watch until 7am Monday.
Small hail is also possible today with an isolated tornado threat. The good news is that things should start to quiet down overnight, with non-severe storms in store for Sunday.
We will then turn quieter for Monday morning, before another chance for some scattered storms are possible into Monday afternoon.
