Stolen, badly burned dog to undergo skin graft surgery

MILWAUKEE -- A local dog found cold and badly burned after being stolen from her home last month is getting special medical care Monday.

A trauma and critical care specialist from Froedtert Hospital has stepped up to apply pigskin to Beatrice's second and third degree burns.

Doctors say the burns can completely heal if the pigskin responds well to Beatrice's body. It will take at least two weeks to determine if the procedure was a success.

She will still need wound care and future skin grafting to completely heal her third degree wounds.
