Stifling Heat Followed by Storms

No shortage of weather to talk about, starting today.  Look for intense heat and humidity.

Heat indices this afternoon will be around 100.  Please limit your time outdoors and drink lots of water.  Keep the pets inside as well.  With these conditions, a pop up storm is possible, especially later in the afternoon.  However, the bigger push comes overnight with a complex of storms moving through the region.

1 to 2 inches of rain, perhaps more, are possible too.  And with such heavy rainfall in a short amount of time, ponding on the roads can happen.  Localized flooding is another possibility too.

Storm chances continue on Friday, in waves, as a cold front starts to move in from the Upper Midwest.  We could see bouts of scattered showers and thunder showers throughout the day.  Hopefully most of the rain will be gone by Friday night.  And then we set up for a fairly nice weekend with highs around 80.

The risk of storms will return by the middle of next week.  This is the perfect opportunity, by the way, to download the free CBS58 weather app to keep ahead of the approaching storms.  You can also get weather alerts if and when they're issued.
