TOWN OF NEWBOLD, Wis. (WSAW) -- A 28-year-old Rhinelander woman is expected to be charged with April 14 death of a 20-month-old boy.

According to a news release, first responders received the report of a toddler with shallow breathing around 6:30 p.m. Friday at a home in the Town of Newbold, northwest of Rhinelander. The boy, Avery Edwards died shortly after at a Marshfield hospital.

Investigators announced Monday Ellen Tran will be charged with second degree reckless homicide. No other details surrounding the child's death have been released. Tran is the child's stepmother.

The child's cause of death is under investigation by the sheriff's department, Oneida County medical examiner and Oneida County district attorney.
