Staying dry for another couple of days before the chance for heavy rain returns

The first week of August was all dry but then the flood gates literally opened with historic rainfall on Saturday and more rain Sunday and again on Tuesday. Once you add up rainfall over those three days Milwaukee is sitting at an official total of 7.99" of rain. That is enough to be the fifth wettest August on record. The current wettest August on record was in 1978 when we had just over 9" of rain.

There's a decent chance we could break the rainfall record for August. After staying dry Thursday and Friday the chance for rain returns on Saturday. Right now, northern Wisconsin has the best chance for rain with some of our northern counties seeing the best chance for rain. The chance isn't as good in the Milwaukee metro area but there is still a decent chance for rain.

Once rain chances start on Saturday they continue for Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. Northern Wisconsin could be in the bullseye for heavy rain with 2-4" possible there right now. Southeast Wisconsin looks a little bit less but even an inch or two of rain could bring a return to the flooding conditions we saw last weekend.
