State lawmakers to vote on bills to help drug addicts

MADISON -- The Wisconsin State Assembly is expected to vote on a set of bills designed to help drug addicts who overdose. One bill would allow first responders to administer narcan, a drug that counteracts opioid overdoses.

Another bill in this package guarantees immunity for anyone who calls 911 to report an overdose. The bills are sponsored by Republican State Representative John Nygren whose daughter struggles with an addiction to heroin.
