St. Francis man out $549 after falling victim to Microsoft virus scam

ST. FRANCIS, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A St. Francis man is out $549 after falling victim to a scam.
The man called the police to report falling victim to an online scam on Monday.
Investigation revealed that the victim received a "pop up" message on his personal computer that he believed to be from Microsoft stating he had a virus on his computer.
The victim paid $549 to have the "problem" fixed when he discovered it was a scam.
A report has been filed and police continue their investigation.
