Spending issue seemingly divides Milwaukee County Supervisor and Sheriff's Office

CBS 58

MILWAUKEE COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A new spending issue is seemingly pitting a Milwaukee County Supervisor against the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office (MSCO).

The issue is a six-figure plan to upgrade security cameras at the county jail. Supervisor Shawn Rolland says that money should be used to help the Milwaukee County Transit System (MCTS) crack down on people that don't pay their bus fare.

But MCSO is firing back.

In a statement, MCSO notes that some supervisors have called for more transparency at the jail. To quote the statement "it is hypocritical to attempt to impede the most obvious transparency tool in use at the jail."

Rolland's budget amendment is set to be introduced during tomorrow morning's, Oct. 24, Finance Committee meeting.
