KENOSHA COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A warning for drivers in Kenosha County. The speed limit is changing on Highway 32 between Carthage College and the Racine County line.
The change went into effect Monday, Nov. 18.
The speed limit was reduced from 45 miles per hour to 35 miles per hour. Officials say studies were done and found speeding and crashes were major issues on this stretch of highway. Some drivers were going as fast as 80 miles per hour.
"We don't want to write a lot of citations," said Sheriff David Zoerner. "That's not why we're here. We just want to slow traffic down."
You can't miss the change to the speed limit. There are new speed limit signs and extra law enforcement officers patrolling the area.
