South Milwaukee woman accused of driving drunk the wrong way with 2-year-old in vehicle

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A 31-year-old South Milwaukee woman is accused of driving the wrong way on US 45 while intoxicated with her 2-year-old child in the car. 

It happened Sunday night, April 3. 

Officials say a 911 caller reported a driver going northbound in the southbound lanes of US 45 about 1/2 mile north of State Highway 33/West Washington Street, around 8 p.m. At some point, officials say, the suspected driver turned around and was observed by a deputy driving shoulder-to-shoulder near Mileview Rd.

The driver was stopped and failed field sobriety testing. She had a preliminary breath test of .268.

The child was turned over to a relative.

The woman was arrested for OWI first with a minor in the vehicle, recklessly endangering safety, and open intoxicants.
