Some Thursday morning showers before a round of heavy rain is possible to start the weekend

We are waking up Thursday to some rain showers. Mostly light showers have been moving through since about 3 AM with some areas of steady rain in southern counties. More rain is just south of the IL border where some heavy rain and storms have been moving through. Overall, rain chances have increased for the next few days with some showers Thursday morning then a likely chance for rain Friday afternoon and evening. The most likely chance for rain is with scattered showers and storms most of the day Saturday. 

After the rain Thursday morning we look pretty dry by around noon and should stay dry for a full 24 hours through at least noon on Friday. The rain chances will increase Friday afternoon with some heavy rain, and a few storms, possible by the evening hours. 

The heavy rain and storms for Friday evening and throughout the day Saturday, even some lingering showers are possible into Sunday. rain totals will start to add up leading to some flooding concerns. About 1-3" of rain is possible by the end of the weekend. That rainfall could lead to brief flash flooding and ponding on area roadways, but some rising rivers and streams are also possible. 

The latest drought update shows conditions getting better in southeast Wisconsin where only the I-94 corridor is seeing dry conditions. Previously parts of Fond du Lac and Sheboygan Counties were in the dry area but they are no longer included. Unfortunately, northern, and especially northwestern Wisconsin, have seen expanding drought conditions. Severe and extreme drought conditions have been reported up there.
