Sojourner Family Peace Center raising awareness about domestic violence with #PurpleThursday

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – A local organization is trying to bring awareness to domestic violence by encouraging people to “turn Milwaukee purple.”
October is Domestic Violence Awareness month. According to Sojourner Family Peace Center, one in four women nationwide will experience violence at the hands of a partner in her lifetime.
To raise awareness, the center is encourage people to wear the color purple on Thursday, October 19 on “Purple Thursday” and share a photo on social media using #SojournerMKE and #PurpleThursday.
The color purple represents courage, survival, and hope.
