Soberfest returns to Milwaukee with free music, activities and recovery resources

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) — Soberfest is returning to Milwaukee for its sixth year, bringing live music, family activities and recovery resources to Pere Marquette Park.

The free, substance-free music festival is designed for people in recovery, their families and allies, as well as anyone interested in learning more about a sober lifestyle.

This year's lineup features Milwaukee-area artists Shuga Blu Band, Wave Chapelle and Brett Heitmiller.

The festival will also include interactive games, family-friendly activities and tables connecting attendees with community organizations and resources.

"Soberfest 6 celebrates recovery, music and community in a substance-free space," said Byron Thompson, senior volunteer manager with The Phoenix Milwaukee. "We aim to uplift individuals in recovery while expanding the movement behind The Phoenix Milwaukee."

Thompson joined CBS 58 on Thursday to discuss what attendees can expect, event logistics and the festival's mission.

Soberfest will be held Saturday, Aug. 1, from 5-10 p.m. at Pere Marquette Park in downtown Milwaukee.
