GREEN BAY, Wis. (CBS 58) — Packers cornerback Keisean Nixon returned to practice after missing the first day of training camp with a hamstring injury.

Nixon said he woke up with tightness in his hamstring, and out of caution, the coaching staff decided it was best for him to sit out.

He's looking to build off his first season as a full-time outside cornerback, a year that was both memorable and frustrating. Nixon recorded 14 pass breakups through the first 10 games of the season but had just three over the final seven contests.

"I just want to compete," Nixon said. "Take a step from last year, not just worry about PBUs, pass breakups or my stats. I want to play complete football, of course limit penalties and stuff like that. That's just growing pains. I feel like it's just another step to take and I definitely have the athleticism to do it, so just put it together."

"Oh, it was great," Packers cornerback Brandon Cisse said of Nixon's return. "Any time you can get a guy like that that can help the team. He's a great figure in our cornerback room, somebody that comes to talk to me all the time. So I feel like it's great any time you get a player out there like that."

Nixon is entering the final year of his three-year contract with the Packers.

Earlier in the offseason, he hinted at wanting a raise from the $6 million he's set to make this season. But Nixon said he is leaving those discussions to Packers General Manager Brian Gutekunst and his agent.

"I just leave all contract talks up to Brian Gutekunst and my agent," Nixon said.
