Small Plane Lands at Mitchell Airport After Noticing Smoke

A small private plane landed at Mitchell Airport at about 4:45 PM on Thursday and the pilot noticed smoke coming from the engine compartment. 

They cut their engine and the smoke seemed to dissipate the fire department came out checked everything and determined there was nothing wrong.   

The airport was closed for about 15 minutes no flights were diverted or delayed because of this. 

There were no injuries. 

According to Mitchell Airport spokesperson this “was not an emergency landing, in order for that to occur the pilot would have to declare an emergency while in flight.”
