MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Slice of Ice, Milwaukee's free downtown ice rink, will open for the 2025-26 winter season Friday, Dec. 19. 

Friday afternoon, from 3-6 p.m., Slice of Ice will offer free skate rentals courtesy of WaterStone Bank. 

“The holiday season truly brings people together in Milwaukee County. Slice of Ice at Red Arrow Park is one of our cherished winter traditions, and I invite all Milwaukee County families, children, residents, and visitors to come out and take part in this special ice-skating adventure,” said Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley. “Thank you to Milwaukee County Parks for once again hosting this family-friendly activity in the heart of the community for folks to enjoy throughout the season.”

Skate rentals are available at the warming house throughout the season at the following rates:

• Youth (17 and under): $9
• Adults: $11
• Pre-scheduled school and non-profit groups: $5
• Skate sharpening: $7

• December 25: 4:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.
• December 26 – January 3: 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 p.m.
• January 4: 10:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.

January & February:

• Sunday: 11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. (skate rentals begin at 11:00 a.m.)
• Monday – Thursday: 11:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. (skate rentals begin at 2:00 p.m.)
• Friday: 11:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. (skate rentals begin at 2:00 p.m.)
• Saturday: 11:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. (skate rentals begin at 11:00 a.m.)
