Racine police: Man at center of Silver Alert killed in Illinois accident

RACINE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Racine Police Department shared a tragic update in the search for a missing man Friday, Feb. 18.

Police say Robert Dessart was involved in a fatal accident in Illinois. 

The department thanks everyone who kept a look out for him.

RACINE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A Silver Alert has been issued for a 79-year-old Racine man. Officials say Robert Paul Dessart left his residence on Roosevelt Avenue around 7:15 a.m. on Feb. 18, and has not been seen since. 

Dessart left his home in a 2004 black Honda CR-V with Wisconsin plate 704RDN. 

He was last seen wearing blue and green plaid pajama bottoms, a blue cardigan sweater with a gray T-shirt underneath, white socks and blue tennis shoes with a white stripe. 

Authorities describe Dessart as a white male, standing 5'7" tall, weighing 155 lbs., with hazel eyes and white, balding hair. He has a tattoo on his left forearm that reads "DESS." He also has a bruise on the bridge of his nose.
