BROWN DEER, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A Walmart employee is accused of firing shots at an SUV in the parking lot of the Brown Deer store.
Carlton Young, 21, has been charged with one count of endangering safety by use of a dangerous weapon and first degree recklessly endangering safety, use of a dangerous weapon.
The incident happened on Friday, March 1 just after 3:15 p.m.
According to a criminal complaint, police were called to the Walmart on Brown Deer Road because an employee -- identified as Young -- was involved in a physical fight.
Surveillance video allegedly shows Young working in the customer service center when he was approached by two males and a fight ensued between the three of them. During the fight, officials say several employees intervened and tried to break it up.
The surveillance then showed, according to the complaint, the two men entered an SUV in the parking lot and began driving through the lot when Young started firing gunshots at them. One of the shots, officials say, struck the SUV's rear window.
Young is then seen, according to the complaint, running through the parking lot before jumping over a fence.
Officers located Young shortly after the incident walking down a residential street approximately two blocks north of Walmart.
During an interview, Young allegedly stated, "It's really just self-defense, I don't know who, don't know nobody... I got jumped at work and sent back self-defense shots."
Young told investigators he was just trying to protect himself, the complaint says.
When asked what happened after firing the shots, Young allegedly said he was sorry but there wasn't much he could remember from the incident.
Young said, according to the complaint, "It was self-defense, I don't... feel like this is going in my favor, I didn't do nothing, so I feel like I probably need a lawyer or something."
Young's cash bond was set at $7,500 and he was ordered to have no contact with the Walmart on Brown Deer Road and its employees.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 12.
