Reports: Former Milwaukee County executive Chris Abele victim of Shorewood robbery
SHOREWOOD, Wis. (CBS 58) – The Shorewood Police Department is investigating an armed robbery on Sunday, Nov. 29.
Police say it happened around 7:21 p.m. near Capitol and Newhall. Authorities say the victim was driving east on Capitol when another car pulled in front of him, forcing him to stop. The suspect then approached the victim’s car while the other suspect stayed in their car.
The suspect ordered the victim out of the car at gunpoint. When the suspect got into the driver’s seat of the victim’s vehicle, he was unable to drive it away. He stole items from inside before getting out and firing two rounds at the unoccupied car.
Reports indicate the victim was former Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele. The Shorewood Police Department said it could not confirm if Abele was the victim. Abele could not be reached for comment Monday.
The suspect car is an older silver or grey sedan.
"It’s definitely scary and I have kids so obviously that makes me a little -- just gotta watch what you’re doing," said Heather Eells, who was at the post office near where the incident occurred.
"Shorewood is a really tight-knit community so people are always looking out for each other, so the fact that most people know that and they’re still taking advantage of these opportunities -- and 7 p.m. isn’t that late, so it’s, it’s scary," said Molly Zims.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
