MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- According to authorities, seven small gas leaks on the roof of the Courtyard Marriott caused big evacuations. Shoppers at the Grand Avenue Mall, the YMCA, nearby apartment buildings and those staying inside had to leave.
Fire officials received numerous calls of a strong natural gas smell. Some callers were a few blocks away who were smelling the gas because of the wind.
We Energies crews are sealing up the leaks and fire officials say everyone in the area is safe.
