Sheriff's deputy punched, gunshots heard near lakefront

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office is investigating an incident that happened on Friday, April 14, around 10 p.m. at the North Point parking lot near Bradford Beach.

Sheriff's deputies were closing down the North Point parking lot.

While a deputy was arresting a suspect, they were punched by a different suspect, who was soon restrained by a second deputy, and also arrested.

While still trying to clear out the parking lot, three to four gunshots were heard between North Point and the area of McKinley Marina.

No injuries were reported by anyone taken into custody, but the man who struck the deputy and the deputy who was struck will be examined at an area hospital as a precaution.

Authorities said on Saturday that the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office, the Milwaukee Police Department and the Milwaukee Fire Department remain at the lakefront for crowd control purposes.
