MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- SHARP Literacy of Milwaukee is hoping to help more kids improve their reading skills by launching its first public fundraising campaign.
At Discovery World Monday morning, SHARP Literacy brought second graders in for a tour. While there they announced their goal to raise $124,000 so more kids can have similar opportunities.
"There's so much demand out there right now and we would love to be able to serve more students so that we can continue to close that achievement gap," says Sharp Literacy President Lynda Kohler.
More than 1,200 students in 12 schools are on a waiting list to bring SHARP Literacy programs to their classrooms.
