MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Seven Milwaukee County Transit System bus drivers were honored by the Milwaukee County Board Thursday.
These men and women were all recognized for spotting and rescuing children who had somehow gotten separated from their families.
We've shared some of their stories -- like Cecilia Nation-Gardner, who stopped her bus to help a 6-year-old boy walking through busy traffic near 35th and Vliet.
"Most of the time it was small children, just wandering in the middle of the night," Milwaukee County Board Supervisor Sequanna Taylor said. "I felt that we could've been having a different type of media advisory if it would've been a tragedy, but this was something to praise them for, going above and beyond and being in the right place at the right time."
Thursday's recognition ceremony came just before the start of the supervisors' meeting at the courthouse.
