MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Senator Tammy Baldwin met with families on Monday, June 9 who have been impacted by the ongoing Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) lead crisis.
Parents were able to voice their opinion and address concerns about the lack of support from the federal government.
In April, the Trump administration shut down the lead experts branch which would have provided boots on the ground assistance in instances such as these.
Baldwin called to reinstate these experts and held Robert F. Kennedy Jr. responsible for his lack of transparency in the crisis.
"The fact that RFK Jr. has either lied and said that there was a team from the CDC here or doesn't know that there wasn't either way it is not acceptable, and we have to hold the trump administration responsible...they could make the situation better today, by rehiring these experts," said Senator Baldwin.
Lead has been found in six MPS schools and has displaced nearly 2,000 students across Milwaukee.
