Semi crash shuts down westbound I-94 for several hours Labor Day morning

Waukesha County Communications received multiple 911 calls just after midnight Labor Day, reporting a semi vs car crash on westbound I-94 just west of Calhoun Road. The city of Brookfield Fire Department and the Sheriff's Office responded.

Upon arriving, deputies found there was complete blockage and a vehicle was slightly under the trailer of the semi. Initial investigation shows the semi and unloaded semi were eastbound when the driver became inattentive. The semi then struck a tow truck and the vehicle the tow was assisting on the shoulder. The semi driver veered towards the median wall, striking the wall and crossing over into the westbound lanes. A vehicle traveling west struck the trailer area and became partially lodged underneath. No injuries were reported.

The driver of the striking vehicle was taken into custody for OWI.

Westbound I-94 was closed at Moreland Road for approximately three hours. The crash remains under investigation.
