Seasonably cool weekend ahead

Would I call it a taste of fall? Of course not; however, temperatures will remain below average running into next week. An upper-level trough and low will spin in cool air at us, which is the reason for the temps staying below 80 all weekend. With this cooler air, there’s an opportunity for afternoon spotty showers. Those showers that develop will die off as the sun sets and we lose our daytime heating.

The span of below normal temperatures will last until next Tuesday, and then a warm up kicks up for August. Late next week, the trough moves north, and a zonal pattern will throw the temps above average once again. The highs will jump into the 80s for daytime highs. The warmest air for late next week will still be over the Southwest, but the Midwest, Great Lakes, and Northeast will not be far behind.
