Schoutens earns 2nd Olympic speedskating spot in 5,000

   MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Carlijn Schoutens won the 5,000 meters at the U.S. speedskating trials, earning a second Olympic berth to go with the 3,000.

   She won in 7 minutes, 12.27 seconds on Thursday night. There were just two pairings for the 12 1/2-lap race.

   Skating her last lap, Schoutens lapped Rebecca Simmons, briefly leaving both skaters in the same lane.

   Petra Acker was second in 7:26.49. Three-time Olympian Maria Lamb finished third at 7:31.11. Simmons was last in 7:51.97.

   Schoutens, born in the U.S. to Dutch parents, won the 3,000 on Tuesday to qualify for her first Olympics.
