Scattered storms could be on the strong side tonight
After light rain this morning, cloud cover has been stubborn across much of the area this afternoon. Areas closer to the Illinois border have seen the most sunshine, which has helped temps warm into the 60s and low 70s.
All is quiet for now, but scattered showers and isolated storms will start to develop across southern between 7-9pm.
Meanwhile, a cluster of strong to severe storms will be developing in eastern Iowa. This is expected to track east across northern Illinois and could brush border counties between 1-3am.
Storms that develop will have a marginally severe hail threat, while the main cluster of storms overnight could also pose a strong wind threat. A Marginal Risk (level 1 of 5) is in place for tonight across most of southeast WI with a higher risk to our south and west.
Showers and storms exit by daybreak Sunday with clouds dissipating throughout this morning. This will allow temps to warm into the mid to upper 70s with a few spots possible reaching the low 80s. You'll notice an uptick in humidity as well.
A gnarly lake breeze will then develop mid afternoon and push inland into the evening.
As more storms are approaching, these cooler temps should help weaken them, but they could still be strong closer to Madison.
With the current expectations of the lake breeze pushing west Sunday evening, this *should* keep the nasty line of overnight severe storms to our south.
Most of southeast Wisconsin is under a Marginal Risk once again Sunday, the higher chance for severe weather will once again be to our southwest.
