Sausage for Everyone!

Milwaukee's Old German Beer Hall has free Usinger sausage Thursday in honor Fred Usinger Day.

As Proclaimed by the Milwaukee County Executive and the Milwaukee Mayor, February 23rd is Fred Usinger Day, in recognition of Usinger's great legacy in the community.

Usinger "wurstmachers" have been making superlative quality sausage on Milwaukee's Old World Third Street since 1880. The site of the original store is located directly across the street from the Old German Beer Hall.

The original family recipes have never been altered in order to meet a competitive price.

To the Usinger sausage makers, it is a matter of pride to maintain their tradition of excellence.

To mark the occasion the Usinger store will feature specials on brats, wieners, Braunschweiger, chicken sausages, sauerkraut and more from 9am to 5pm.

This year is the 10th annual celebration of Fred Usinger Day at the Old German Beer Hall.

One free Usinger Sausage per person will be given out at the Old German Beer Hall on Thursday, February 23, 2017 from 11am to 8pm, while supplies last.

Fritz Usinger will be on hand to tap a keg of Bock Beer from the Munich Hofbräuhaus.

Those in attendance will have the chance to sample the amber bock beer, a true Munich specialty.

"The Usinger family represents Milwaukee's German heritage and the legacy of world class sausage making in the modern era.", Said Hans Weissgerber III, Founder of the Old German Beer Hall. Usinger's commitment to quality and excellence has earned them the distinction as an official supplier to Hofbräuhaus of America and their beer halls across America.

The Old German Beer Hall, located at 1009 N. Old World Third Street (across from Usinger's) was founded in 2005 as Munich style beer hall serving the beers of the Royal Hofbräu Munich Brewery.
