Sargento Foods volunteers build 30th Habitat for Humanity home in Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The warm weather didn't stop people from putting on a hard hat and picking up some tools Wednesday.

Volunteers from Sargento Foods were building their 30th home in Milwaukee for Habitat for Humanity.

Sargento has been involved with Habitat for Humanity for nearly three decades, and the company's CEO says it's a great opportunity to give back.

"From the very beginning, my grandfather had a good focus on not only helping people, but helping communities," Sargento Foods CEO Louie Gentine said. "That's what so great about Habitat for Humanity.

"This is something I never thought would happen for me, because I never thought I'd get a home built from the ground up and actually having people help build my home," recipient Davontae Fleming said.

Since 1992, Sargento has donated more than $1.5 million to help build affordable homes in Milwaukee.
