MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Over at the Salvation Army, donated toys are being handed out to families. They even had some help from the Brewers' Famous Racing Sausages.
This year, the Salvation Army is helping more than 3,000 families. That means more than 7,800 children will have presents under the tree to open on Christmas morning.
"It's a wonder, what Christmas is for children, and if they don't have anything, if they don't get that surprise, that toy underneath the tree, then it's disappointment, you know. It's helping children have a good Christmas," said Major Beverly Gates, Milwaukee Area Command.
Salvation Army leaders say they're helping at least 450 more kids this year than last, so the need has clearly grown.
These toys are going to families who are already registered. If you'd like the Salvation Army's help receiving toys, click here.
