Rodgers crisp as Packers win preseason battle in St. Louis

ST. LOUIS - Aaron Rodgers and the Packers first-team offense looked as dominant as ever Saturday as the Packers defeated the St. Louis Rams 21-7 in the team's second preseason game.

Rodgers marched the offense down the field on the team's first drive, hitting Randall Cobb for a 3 yard touchdown and the game's first score. Rodgers had a second touchdown to Jordy Nelson called back because of a penalty.

The final stat line for Rodgers was up to his staggeringly high standards : 11 for 13, 128 yards and a touchdown pass.

Matt Flynn found Jeff Janis for a late third quarter touchdown, but Scott Tolzien was the first quarterback on in relief of Rodgers. Flynn and Tolzien are battling for the backup quarterback job.

22 penalties were called in the game, 12 of them against the Packers for a total of 95 penalty yards.

The Packers play the Oakland Raiders next Friday in the third preseason game, a game you can see on CBS 58 at 7:00 PM.
