Robbery suspect arrested after standoff near I-43 Saturday morning

MILWAUKEE, WI (CBS 58) -- A suspect in several store robberies was arrested early Saturday morning following a standoff near 8th and Locust Streets.   The Milwaukee Police report that around 2 AM, officers were investigating an attempted robbery in the 2900 block of N Oakland.   When they saw the suspect, he fled in his car and a pursuit ensued.   The suspect’s vehicle became disabled in the area of 8th and Locust, but the 28-year-old man refused to get out of the vehicle.   Officers believed the man was armed so crisis negotiators and the tactical enforcement unit were called.   The freeway in the area was shut down while negotiators talked with the suspect.   After sometime the suspect surrendered and was taken into custody without incident.   The suspect is believed to be involved in several other store robberies.
