MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The show must go on. That's a message from the Milwaukee Host Committee who is in charge of putting tonight's event together to welcome more than 13,000 delegates.

The party began at Henry Maier Festival Park, which was scheduled to start at 6 p.m.

It will be closed to the press, but CBS 58 got a sneak peek at the park earlier today.

The RNC host committee rolled out the red carpet to give attendees a Wisconsin welcome, which meant beer, cheese, old fashions, live music, and more.

The event also came in wake of security concerns just a day after the attack against Former President Donald Trump.

Officials with the RNC host committee could not comment about any specific changes for tonight, but they said security has always been a top of mind in planning the event.

"I will say this, it's going to be awesome. We are going to be the safest place in the U.S. this week we've got great support. We know our folks here and a lot of planning and consideration has gone into this," said Allison Prange, COO, RNC Host Committee.

The theme was red, white, and brew.
