Ride your bike through the Milwaukee County Zoo

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- It’s the one time a year you can ride your bike in the Milwaukee County Zoo. Ride on the Wild Side is a fun event for people of all ages, and it helps raise money for the Zoological Society of Milwaukee. The registration fee includes entry to the Zoo and parking, a continental breakfast, lunch, a long sleeve T-shirt, crafts and activities for children. Last year’s event raised $28,000 for the Society and its efforts supporting the Milwaukee County Zoo. Helmets are mandatory.

The 2.5 mile kids’ ride stays inside the Zoo. Adults may participate in the 10, 17 or 27 mile rides which start and end in the Zoo but go through the Menomonee River Parkway along the Oak Leaf bike trail.

The event will be held Sunday, September 10. Ride check-in and registration starts at 7:00 a.m. at the Zoo. Activities end at 1:00 p.m. You can register online at zoosociety.org/bike through September 7. After September 7, call 414-258-2333 to register. Day-of-event registrations will be accepted (limited T-shirt sizes will be available.)

The cost for the event is $35 for Zoo Pass members, $40 for non-members and $45 for any adults registering the day of the ride. Adults are considered anyone 14-years-old or older.

Children aged three to 13 cost $12 for Zoo Pass members, $15 for non-members and $20 for any child registering the day of the ride.

A Family of four with two adults and two children can register for $85 for Zoo Pass members and  $100 for non-members. The discount is not available the day of the ride.
