'Ride To The Barns' cycling event supports land, water conservation

WAUKESHA COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Saving our area's precious natural resources was the goal of a special cycling event held on Saturday.
The annual 'Ride to the Barns' was put on by the Tall Pines Conservancy and it supports land and water conservation in Waukesha County.
There were two routes, one was 30-miles and the other was a 60-mile ride.
Susan Buchanan created the event 12 years ago and says the ride highlights the importance of protecting farmlands.
"Right now we're losing so many dairy farms in the state, it's really going to change the rural landscape. So, by protecting farms through purchase of development rights, purchasing conservation easements, we can keep those farms in business for the next generation," said Buchanan.
