MILWAUKEE COUNTY

The Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office - The DA’s office operates a specialized domestic violence unit to charge and prosecute misdemeanor and felony domestic violence offenses. In addition to prosecutors, the DV Unit consists of six Victim Witness Specialists assigned to the three Domestic Violence Courts. Specialists are responsible for keeping victims and witnesses informed of all domestic violence misdemeanor and felony case proceedings. They attend court on a daily basis and answer any questions and concerns victims and witnesses may have and make support service referrals for crime victims.

Sojourner Truth House -  The Domestic Abuse Victim Advocates, located in the Domestic Violence Unit of the Milwaukee County District Attorney's office, room 110 in the Criminal Justice Facility (949 North 9th Street), provide confidential services including; education, support and referral services to help victims understand the criminal justice system.

Task Force on Family Violence Courthouse Advocacy - Advocates in the Restraining Order Clinics will explain the process, help you with the paperwork, go with you to court, and help you find shelter, counseling or other services.

Domestic Violence Courts - Milwaukee County has three specialized domestic violence courts. Judges hear misdemeanor and felony domestic violence matters.

WAUKESHA

The Women’s Center offers free and comprehensive services including domestic violence, sexual assault, and abuse counseling, an emergency domestic violence shelter, a 24-hour hotline, free on-site child care, legal advocacy, transitional living, and life skills programming that includes employment, parenting and grandparents support groups, educational forums and advocacy.
