MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- With the return of Wisconsin Tech Month, some new changes are in the works for Walker's Point.
Common Council President Jose Perez has introduced a new resolution. It labels part of the neighborhood a Milwaukee "Innovation District."
This resolution encourages small and large tech businesses to exist in a community space. With these efforts, Perez aims to encourage advancements within community spaces all throughout the city.
"Innovation districts redefine how we think about economic development by fostering collaboration, focusing on emerging technologies, and integrating urban living with cutting-edge research and industry," Perez said.
If this program goes well, Perez says he hopes to continue to add innovation districts throughout the city.
His end goal is to create a tech-forward Milwaukee where innovation is truly embraced.
