Rescued dogs find new home for rehabilitation

RACINE-About 40 dogs rescued from Orphan Kanines in Racine have been moved to a location that the Regency mall is offering to the Wisconsin Humane Society on a month to month lease.

The remaining 40 dogs are undergoing treatment at the Humane Society's Racine campus.

Society Director Angela Speed says already they're showing social skills having quickly connected with the volunteers who are now giving them care.

\"They're coming out of their shell,\" Speed told CBS 58 News. \"They're less stressed out. They're loving the attention they're getting.\"

But, their medical complications remain.

Orphan Kanines owner Debra Gray is facing more than 80 counts of animal mistreatment.

She has relinquished her rights to the animals.

CBS 58's Lila Carrera has more.
