Rescue animals arrive via airplane for HAWS adoption campaign

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Sixty rescue animals landed on an airplane in Milwaukee on Tuesday, Aug. 4, marking the launch of a month-long nationwide adoption program.

The Humane Animal Welfare Society of Waukesha County received the transport, which included 54 dogs and six cats.

Organizers say that transports like this one support overcrowded and under-resourced shelters by moving adoptable pets to facilities with more space, increasing their chances of finding permanent homes.
