WISCONSIN (CBS 58) -- Some backlash Monday night as pieces of literary art are being taken down at the Wisconsin Center.
You might have seen these works as you went through the center. There are a few dozen quotes, poems and other writings in text from withers with ties to the state.
The Wisconsin Center's CEO made the decision to remove the pieces without talking with the district's board.
A former Wisconsin poet laureate says it's the wrong decision and she wishes the public had a chance to weigh in.
"They didn't hold a hearing, they didn't ask the public what do you want to happen in your building -- because it is a convention center, it's a public building," said Kimberly Blaeser, former Wisconsin poet laureate.
We spoke with one member of the board who confirmed they were not consulted before the decision was made.
We reached out to the Wisconsin Center's CEO for comment, but we have not yet heard back.
