Chilly Election Day, then wintry mix and showers return
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Relay for Life of Racine is gearing up to host a walk in honor of a local cancer survivor.
Maddie Petre, Senior Development Manager for the American Cancer Society, and Amy Helvik, Event Lead for Relay for Life, discussed details when they joined us on Thursday, June 8.
The event is set to take place at Campus Park in Mount Pleasant on Friday, June 9. Piper Sendelbach, who overcame Ewing's sarcoma, will be recognized.
Sendelbach, despite enduring 13 rounds of chemotherapy and 26 days of radiation, maintained a semblance of normalcy by continuing her school activities during treatment.
Kohl's Healthy Families Grant played a significant role in supporting Relay for Life events, even announcing $2 million going towards such efforts to go along with local organizations that help with survivorship and treatment.
