MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – The American Red Cross is changing how they help fire victims in the Milwaukee area.
The Red Cross will no longer show up at fire scenes in 10 Milwaukee neighborhoods. Instead, workers will meet disaster victims at their office or designated Milwaukee Police Department district headquarters.
Officials with the organization say the change will make it safer for volunteers and victims and get everyone out of the cold weather.
The change has been in effect for several weeks. The practice is already in place in rural areas across the state.
