MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A local art instructor gets a big surprise at a school assembly Wednesday morning.
Chad Sperzel-Wuchterl was honored as Wisconsin's 2020 High School Teacher of the Year.
He teaches at Reagan High School in Milwaukee.
"I guess I'll just say what I usually do. We've got a lot of work to do. We've got stuff to take care of. We've only got a few weeks left. Let's get it done," Sperzel-Wuchterl said when he took the podium.
As part of the Teacher of the Year honor, Sperzel-Wuchterl will receive $3,000 from the Herb Kohl Educational Foundation.
His students' artwork has been displayed at the Milwaukee Art Museum and in the state capitol. He began teaching in 2004.
