Rain chances continue through the weekend as drought conditions return in some areas

NOW: Rain chances continue through the weekend as drought conditions return in some areas
NEXT:

This has been one of those weeks where we've had some rain showers at least part of each day. That is a trend that could continue through the beginning of next week as rain chances persist. Friday morning started out with a few light scattered showers and sprinkles. The morning round of rain looks to be over and we should get some good dry time the rest of the day but showers could return Friday evening into Saturday morning.

Friday night and Saturday could actually see a few rumbles of thunder as well. The overall chance for rain on Saturday has decreased but some rain is still possible, especially in the morning. A round of rain looks possible Sunday morning as well but Sunday afternoon should be dry.

Monday and Tuesday also have some shower chances. And as the rain chances keep coming drought conditions have returned to southeast Wisconsin. For the first time since the middle of July part of our local area is under a drought. Northern Sheboygan County and NE Fond du Lac County are under a moderate drought. A good chunk of Wisconsin is under "abnormally dry" conditions as well shown in yellow.

In addition to the rain chances, temperatures will soar for the start of the weekend. Highs both Friday and Saturday are expected to reach the low to middle 70s. Records are in the lower 80s so not near record territory but definitely unusually warm for this time of year. The less rain and any sunshine we get, the better chance of hitting those 70s. If we stay cloudy and rainy either day then temps would likely be cooler.

By Sunday a cold front arrives and the wind shifts to the northwest. Temps won't warm much on Sunday and highs will stay in the 50s. The wind out of the NW could gust over 30 mph at times making it a bit of a raw day. there's a pretty good chance for rain in the morning Sunday as well.
