MCSO, MPD searching for 3 suspects after attempted traffic stop on stolen car ends in crash near Harley-Davidson
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) — The Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office and the Milwaukee Police Department are searching for three people who they say were involved in a crash Wednesday afternoon.
According to the sheriff’s office, a deputy sheriff on patrol duty attempted a traffic stop on a stolen car.
That’s when, officials said, the stolen car crashed and the three people inside took off running near 37th St., by Davidson Park near Milwaukee’s Concordia neighborhood.
They have not yet been located.
Now, plenty of car debris remains on the streets where the crash happened.
CBS 58’s Ellie Nakamoto-White spoke with Johnnie Ashley, who lives near the scene, who said she heard loud noises and sirens.
That’s when she received an alarming notification on her phone from her car, which was parked on the street right outside.
When Ashley went outside, she realized her car had been totaled in the crash.
“Thank God that I am okay, I thank God that I wasn’t in the car, that my son wasn’t in the car, so that’s the plus,” Ashley said. “They don’t care about tearing somebody else’s car up as long as they can get away, and so that’s what happened today…sheriff’s department chasing somebody, they’re speeding, they’re still chasing them, my car wound up totaled, who is responsible? That’s the question.”
CBS 58 is awaiting updates from officials. Stay tuned for the latest information.
