Racine police investigating fire at vacant home, believed to be set intentionally

RACINE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Racine police are investigating a house fire believed to be set intentionally Tuesday, April 9. 

The Racine Fire Department was dispatched to a vacant, two-story residence near Walnut and Cherry Street around 10:44 p.m. after a neighbor reported hearing a loud sound and seeing flames. 

Officials say in all, 24 firefighters responded to the scene, searching the residence, extinguishing the fire and investigating its cause.

The investigation was paused around 1 a.m. and resumed later in the morning. 

The fire department says property loss totaled $30,000, with $2,000 in loss content.
