Racine Police arrest suspects responsible for stealing Amazon packages off porch

RACINE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Two alleged porch thieves have been arrested in Racine.

Officers were dispatched to the area of LaSalle and Melvin for a report of a theft. Upon arrival, officers located two men walking with a sealed brown cardboard box bearing the logo 'Hamilton Beach' and plastic bags containing some type of merchandise.

The two men were identified as Randy Clark, 31, and Jovaris Bates, 19.

Clark told police that he was given the merchandise by some kid and did not know where the items came from. Bates denied any knowledge of the theft.

Officers spoke with the victim who said that the package was stolen from his front porch. The packages from Amazon contained a sandwich maker, goody bags for a birthday party, and Curology skin creme.

A witness who called police said she saw the suspects walking down the street opening a package and thought it was suspicious.

Clark and Bates were arrested for theft.
